Supplements can be a vitamin, food, a random plant extract. A chemical that probably won’t actually kill you, or even nothing at all. Nutrition supplements that are intended to provide nutrients that may otherwise not be consumed in sufficient quantities. Bodybuilding supplements that are intended to provide nutrients that may otherwise not be consumed in sufficient quantities; for example, minerals, proteins, amino acids, vitamins, or other nutritional substances. Products are usually ingested in tablet, capsule, or liquid form.

Supplements are commonly used involved in weightlifting, mixed martial arts, bodybuilding, and athletics for the purpose of facilitating an increase in lean body mass. The intent is to increase muscle, improve performance, increase body weight, and for some sports. To simultaneously decrease percent body fat so as to create better muscle definition. Among the most widely used are high protein drinks, branched-chain amino acids, creatine, HMB, glutamine, arginine, essential fatty acids. And weight loss products.

Supplements are sold either as single ingredient preparations or in the form of stacks. While many supplements are also consumed by the general public the frequency of use will differ when used specifically by bodybuilders and sportsman.
